The NZ Boat Register is a free, independent, online platform for recreational boat owners in New Zealand to create a digital record of their vessels. 

 It works with tools like AquaTAG ID tags and AquaGPS location tracking to improve boat identification, safeguard against theft, and assist in recovery situations. 

How it works

• Digital record: Owners can upload photos, serial numbers, safety equipment lists, and maintenance histories to create a secure digital profile for their boat or other recreational watercraft (like kayaks and jet skis).
• AquaTAG ID tags: The platform integrates with waterproof, NFC-enabled tags that can be scanned by a smart phone to view basic registration information securely, even if the owner's personal details are hidden.
• AquaGPS tracking: This is an optional, paid service that uses satellite technology to provide real-time location tracking for a vessel.
• Benefits: The register helps with insurance claims, proves ownership, and improves recovery efforts by making it easier to identify a vessel if it is stolen or lost at sea.
