Nautilus only uses the best quality fibres. We highly respect our environment with great emphasis on our Oceans and recognise that protecting the environment today is essential to creating a sustainable business future. We actively seek to minimise the environmental impact of our activities and ask that used ropes are disposed of by recycling, rather than discarded, polluting our globe.
Nautilus Braids is a 100% NEW ZEALAND owned and operated company, specialising in the design and manufacture of high performance ropes, using state-of-the-art machinery and sourcing the best quality imported fibres to produce customised ropes of varying sizes, construction and colour.
Nautilus Braids are a dynamic team of dedicated ropemakers with over 60 years of combined experience in research, rope and yarn making. Our mission is to make the highest quality ropes with state-of-the-art machinery whilst providing very cost competitive products that do not compromise performance.
Ian McFarlane set up the company in 1994, based on the philosophy of low cost and low overheads, using the most modern braiding equipment. Ian has designed and built our own twisters to incorporate flexibility and develop higher performance products. We use the best quality imported fibre to produce the highest quality braided ropes.
We specialise in manufacturing customised products for the discerning buyer. Products include marine rope, winch rope, stock rope (halter and leadrope), multiplait, fishing braid, mooring line, shockcord, drogues, warps and ropes for industrial applications.
Our factory is located outside Christchurch in a rural environment allowing our overheads to be minimal whilst still using the most modern, state-of-the-art machinery.
